Came Yamaha ready to conquer at Brands Hatch

The CAME Yamaha team are setting their sights on victory this weekend as Billy McConnell and James Westmoreland prepare for the opening round of the Fuchs-Silkolene British Supersport Championship at Brands Hatch.

McConnell returns for a second consecutive season with the team after finishing runner-up in 2009, whilst James Westmoreland is new to the garage following some impressive performances in last year’s championship. Both riders have taken advantage of the team’s pre-season test schedule in Spain and at Brands Hatch recently and are now aiming for victory in the opening race of the year.

McConnell said: “This weekend can’t come soon enough for me; testing has gone really well so now I just can’t wait to start racing. For me this is the first time for several years that I have remained with the same team, in the same championship, and that is a good thing for me. The CAME Yamaha team have worked really hard over the winter and we have seen some improvements already; other than that it is the same bike that I won races on last year so I am feeling confident. We have a lot of guests from CAME coming along to support us, so hopefully I can have a repeat of last year – a pole position and a win.”

Westmoreland said: “From the moment I jumped on the CAME Yamaha I have felt very confident and comfortable. We had a good test at Brands Hatch two weeks ago and we are in great shape already, but we still have ideas on how to make even more improvements to the package which we can work test on Friday. I am extremely calm and relaxed about my debut for my new team and the weekend in general. I just can’t wait to get going. It would be great to win for the CAME Yamaha team on Monday and start the championship in the best possible way.”
